Troubleshooting

The things that go wrong with a car bomb, and where to look.

restart does not re-read fxmanifest.lua. After updating mic_carbomb to a new version, run refresh in the server console first and then restart mic_carbomb. Edits to config.lua only need the restart.

The resource stops on start with “Invalid framework specified”

Section titled “The resource stops on start with “Invalid framework specified””

Config.Framework is something other than esx or qbcore. Set it to the framework you run. If it is already right, mic_carbomb starts before your framework — move ensure mic_carbomb below it in server.cfg.

On QBox, the value is qbcore — QBox runs QBCore resources through its compatibility layer — and qbx_core must start before mic_carbomb.

  • QBCore: the shipped definitions put the label in the name field (Car Bomb instead of car_bomb). Each name must equal its key, or QBCore never finds the usable item.
  • Wrong framework. With Config.Framework on esx on a QBCore server (or the other way round) the resource stops on start — look for the red line above.
  • defused_bomb is not meant to be used. It is a trophy item.

I press E next to the car and nothing happens

  • You must be within Config.PlacementDistance (2 m) to plant, or Config.DefuserDistance (3 m) to defuse. Stand by the vehicle’s side rather than at the far end of a long one.
  • A vehicle can only carry one bomb. Planting on a vehicle that already has one does nothing.
  • The toolbox only reacts to a vehicle that has a bomb on it.
  • A destroyed vehicle is ignored.

The detonator looks for the vehicle among the vehicles loaded around the player holding the phone. If the car is on the other side of the map, the phone can not find it: the bomb is removed from the list, but nothing explodes. Stay within sight of the vehicle — the same goes for a countdown when it reaches zero.

Bombs are also found by plate. A vehicle whose plate was changed after the bomb went on is no longer the vehicle the bomb is on.

Planted bombs live in the server’s memory. Restarting mic_carbomb or the server clears them all — nothing is saved to the database.

  • It only beeps when the camera points at the bombed vehicle, within Config.DetectorFacingAngle (30°). Turn to face the car.
  • It only sees vehicles within Config.DetectorDistance (20 m).
  • The blip on the map does not need you to face the car — if you see the blip but hear nothing, you are looking the wrong way.

That is Config.BombBeepEnabled: every planted bomb beeps for anyone within 5 m of the vehicle. Turn it off if you want bombs to stay silent until someone uses a detector.

Config.GiveBackBomb is off, or Config.ReturnDefusedBomb is on and your inventory has no defused_bomb item — add all five items even if you only use four.

  • Config.WebhookEnabled is on, but Config.WebhookURL is still YOUR_WEBHOOK_HERE.
  • Only detonations, timed defusals and failed C4 games send a message. Planting a bomb does not.

Copy the five PNGs from inventory_images/ into your inventory’s image folder (ox_inventory/web/images/ or qb-inventory/html/images/). The file names already match the item names.
