Troubleshooting

The problems people actually hit, roughly in the order they hit them.

restart does not re-read fxmanifest.lua. If you added a file — a new language, for instance — type refresh in the console first, then restart. And anything to do with garments needs a full server restart, not a resource restart: GTA only registers clothing when the server boots.

/clothdesigner says I do not have permission

Section titled “/clothdesigner says I do not have permission”

You are missing the ACE named in Config.OpenPermission (mic_clothdesigner). Grant it in server.cfg to your group or your identifier. To rule the permission out while testing, set Config.OpenPermission = false.

“mic_cloth_addons no accesible aún” in the console

Section titled ““mic_cloth_addons no accesible aún” in the console”

The studio cannot write into mic_cloth_addons. One of these:

  • the filesystem write permission from mic_cloth_designer to mic_cloth_addons is missing;
  • it is there, but below the ensure lines — it must come before the resources start;
  • mic_cloth_addons is not started, or starts after the designer;
  • a folder was renamed, or the author line changed in one of the two fxmanifest.lua files.

Fix it, then restart the whole server. See step 3 of 🪛 Installation.

The studio opens but the Library is empty, or thumbnails never load

Section titled “The studio opens but the Library is empty, or thumbnails never load”

Same cause as above most of the time: mic_cloth_addons is not running, or the designer cannot read it. Check it is started before mic_cloth_designer. The first time the Library opens, thumbnails are rendered and cached in html/previews/, so the first load is slower than the rest.

I pressed Replace and my character still shows the old design

Section titled “I pressed Replace and my character still shows the old design”

Expected. The game keeps a worn garment’s texture cached on your client; a Replace shows after you reconnect. Save (a new texture) shows immediately.

Each garment has a limited number of texture slots. Restart the resource so it can compact them, delete designs you no longer need, or design on a different garment.

  • It needs a server restart after import — sometimes two: the first start imports it, the boot after that registers it.
  • Its file name must start with a component prefix (jbib, lowr, feet, …) and sit in import/male/ or import/female/, unless the name already starts with mp_m_ or mp_f_.
  • Run importaddons in the server console: lines starting with ! are garments it refused, with the reason.

An imported garment is invisible, or crashes the game

Section titled “An imported garment is invisible, or crashes the game”

Almost always the wrong variant: _r for most trousers, _u for nearly everything else. Swap it and import again. A garment that is too heavy — over 6 MB decompressed or with an embedded texture over about 3 MB — is refused on import for exactly this reason. If one is already streaming and crashing clients, remove it from mic_cloth_addons/stream/.

The studio names the reason; the server console shows the provider’s own answer next to a code:

CodeWhat it means
AI_NO_KEYNo GeminiAPIKey in shared/keys.lua, or the key was rejected
AI_DISABLEDConfig.AI.Enabled is off in shared/keys.lua
AI_QUOTAYour Google AI account is out of quota or needs billing
AI_RATELIMITToo many requests — wait a few seconds
AI_BUSYYou already have a generation running
AI_EMPTY_PROMPTNothing was typed
AI_BAD_RESPONSE, AI_PROVIDER_FAILEDThe provider answered with something unusable; the console line says what

If the result leaves white patches, Fill white gaps paints them with the design’s main colour.

Photos are missing, or the database is growing fast

Section titled “Photos are missing, or the database is growing fast”

Without a FivemanageToken in shared/keys.lua, every design photo is stored inside the database, and ox_inventory items cannot show their design as an image. Add a Fivemanage token.

  • Is cloth_design in your inventory’s items file, with the same name as Config.Items.Name?
  • Is the server running ESX, QBCore or QBox? Items are registered through the framework; there is no item support without one. On QBox, qbx_core must start before mic_cloth_designer so the bridge finds it through its QBCore compatibility.
  • For a shop item: did you press Save name, and does the name in your items file match it exactly?
  • Did you restart the inventory after adding the item?

A worn design disappears after reconnecting

Section titled “A worn design disappears after reconnecting”

Expected. Wearing an item lasts for the session; it is not written into the character’s saved appearance. Use the item again.

A downloaded network design will not apply

Section titled “A downloaded network design will not apply”

Designs that need a garment model your server does not have yet download the model first. Restart the server, then import the design again to finish.

Config.Locale in shared/config.lua picks the language (en, es, fr, de, it, pt, pl, ru, tr, nl, cs). Restart after changing it.

The console is full of [ClothDesigner] lines

Section titled “The console is full of [ClothDesigner] lines”

Config.Debug ships on. Set it to false in shared/config.lua.
