Troubleshooting

The problems people actually hit with this resource, and what each one is.

restart does not re-read fxmanifest.lua. If you added a file — a new locale, a new model in mic_hookah_prop — run refresh in the server console first and then restart the resource. Changes to config.lua only need the restart.

Errors about the framework as soon as it starts

Section titled “Errors about the framework as soon as it starts”

Config.Framework and the resource name options must match what you run: esx with Config.ESXResourceName, qbcore with Config.QBResourceName, qbox with Config.QBoxResourceName. Nothing is detected on its own. Also check that mic_hookah starts after your framework in server.cfg.

  • The item name is not in Config.HookahItems (or Config.PlaceableProps for furniture).
  • The item does not exist in your inventory, or on ESX with the default inventory it is not in the items table. Add it from inventory_items/.
  • Config.Framework is wrong, so the item was registered through the wrong framework.

The hookah is invisible, or the carry and placement show nothing

Section titled “The hookah is invisible, or the carry and placement show nothing”

mic_hookah_prop is not running. It streams all ten hookah models; start it in server.cfg before mic_hookah. Tables and chairs are base-game models, so if furniture shows and hookahs do not, this is always the reason.

  • Config.Target does not match your target resource. It must be ox_target or qb-target. For a renamed qb-target, set Config.QBTargetResourceName.
  • The target resource starts after mic_hookah. Move it above.
  • The options appear a moment after joining. They are added once the player’s data has loaded; after a restart of mic_hookah give it a second or two.

“Open Setup Menu” and “Pickup Hookah” are missing

Section titled ““Open Setup Menu” and “Pickup Hookah” are missing”

Those two only show for the player who placed that hookah, or for an admin. If you set Config.AdminGroups to a list, everybody else sees only Grab Hose. The menu also checks Config.AllowedJobs if you set one.

Anybody can open or pick up anybody’s hookah

Section titled “Anybody can open or pick up anybody’s hookah”

Config.AdminGroups ships as false, and false makes every player count as an admin. Put your staff groups in it. See Customization.

“Cannot turn on: missing charcoal, water, or flavor.”

Section titled ““Cannot turn on: missing charcoal, water, or flavor.””

Light Hookah needs all three: add charcoal (hookah_coal), add water (hookah_water) and set a flavour, then light it.

“Cannot use hose: Hookah is not turned on.”

Section titled ““Cannot use hose: Hookah is not turned on.””

Open the setup menu and press Light Hookah first.

If it was lit a moment ago, it ran out. Each puff uses some charcoal and water, and when either reaches zero the hookah goes out on its own. The setup menu shows which one is at 0 %: add it and light the hookah again.

“Cannot smoke: check charcoal, water, or flavor.”

Section titled ““Cannot smoke: check charcoal, water, or flavor.””

The hookah is lit but something is missing. Open the setup menu and check the charcoal, the water and the current flavour.

The menu only lists flavours the player is carrying. Give yourself a flavour item such as hookah_mint_flavor and open the menu again.

Config.InventoryImagePath does not point at your inventory’s image folder, or the icons were not copied there. For ox_inventory it is nui://ox_inventory/web/images/; for qb-inventory, nui://qb-inventory/html/images/.

The player walked further than Config.MaxHoseDistance (3.5 metres) from the hookah. Raise the number if your lounges need more room.

Hookahs and furniture are gone after a restart

Section titled “Hookahs and furniture are gone after a restart”

That is how it works: nothing is saved to the database. Placed hookahs and furniture live in the server’s memory and are cleared when mic_hookah stops or the server restarts.

Restarting the resource removed chairs or tables that were part of the map

Section titled “Restarting the resource removed chairs or tables that were part of the map”

When mic_hookah stops, each player’s game removes every object around them whose model is in Config.HookahItems or Config.PlaceableProps. The shipped furniture uses base-game models, so a matching table or chair that belongs to an interior near a player can go too, until they reload the area. Restart it when the city is quiet, or pick furniture models that your map does not use.

Config.Stress only calls ReduceStress in server_functions.lua, and that function is empty until you add your stress resource’s call to it.

The config comment lists jp, but no Japanese file ships. Use one of the eleven in locales/, or add your own.

A placement is already running. Finish it with E or cancel it with X, then use the next item.
