Items
A design becomes something players can carry in three ways: a clothing item, an outfit that wears several designs at once, or a shop item with its own name that any shop can sell. All three need Config.Items.Enabled on (it is by default) and ESX, QBCore or QBox underneath. On a standalone server the studio works, but designs cannot become items.
The generic item
Section titled “The generic item”| Item | What it does |
|---|---|
cloth_design | Wears the design or outfit stored on it. Use it again to put back what you had on |
The name is Config.Items.Name in shared/config.lua. The definitions ship in items/ox.lua (ox_inventory) and items/qb.lua (QBCore) — copy the entry into your inventory’s items file and restart the inventory. It is not stackable: every copy carries its own design.
On ox_inventory each copy shows its design’s name and, when Fivemanage hosts the photos, the render of that design as its image. On QBCore, a cloth_design.png in qb-inventory/html/images/ gives it a default icon.
Creating a clothing item
Section titled “Creating a clothing item”- Export the design first — an item needs a design that has been saved onto a garment.
- In the studio, Create Clothing Item from the design and give it a name.
- You receive one copy, and it appears under My Content → Items.
From the Items list you can give yourself another copy, rename it or delete it. To hand one to a player, give it to yourself and pass it on like any other item.
Creating an outfit
Section titled “Creating an outfit”Under My Content → Outfits, pick several of your designed garments, name the outfit and create it. The outfit is one cloth_design item that puts all of them on together, and takes them all off when used again.
Selling a design in a shop
Section titled “Selling a design in a shop”Any created item or outfit can be exported as its own inventory item, so a shop that knows nothing about metadata can still sell it.
- Open My Content → Items.
- Press
</>on the item. - Choose an item name — lowercase letters, numbers and underscores. It must not be taken by another exported item.
- Press Save name.
- Copy the block the studio generates into
ox_inventory/data/items.luaorqb-core/shared/items.lua, and restart that inventory. - For an icon, put
<item_name>.pnginox_inventory/web/images/orqb-inventory/html/images/. It works without one.
Now sell it anywhere. Using it wears that design. The link is made on the server by the item name, and it is registered again on every start, so nothing needs re-saving after a restart.
Shared or per-player
Section titled “Shared or per-player”With Config.GlobalContent = true (the default) everyone allowed into the studio sees and manages the same items and outfits. With false, each designer only sees their own.
