Troubleshooting
The problems people actually hit with this resource, in the order they usually hit them.
A change to the resource did nothing
Section titled “A change to the resource did nothing”restart does not re-read fxmanifest.lua. If you added a file — a new locale, a new model in stream/ — run refresh in the server console first and then restart mic_parrots. Without the refresh the server keeps the file list it had and the new file simply is not there.
Using the bird item does nothing
Section titled “Using the bird item does nothing”In order:
Config.Frameworkdoes not match your server. It must beesx,qb-coreorqbox, exactly. The items are only registered for the framework named there.mic_parrotsstarts before your framework. Moveensure mic_parrotsbelow it inserver.cfg.- The item name is not in
Config.BirdItems. Only names listed there are usable. - On ESX with the default inventory, the item is not in the
itemstable. Run the ESX block fromreadme.mdin the resource.
The console shows an error about qbx-core on QBox
Section titled “The console shows an error about qbx-core on QBox”The QBox branch in server/server.lua and client/utils.lua asks for a resource called qbx-core. If your core is named qbx_core (with an underscore), that lookup fails. Both files are open: change the name there to match your resource, or open a ticket on the Discord and we will sort it with you.
“You already have a bird companion!”
Section titled ““You already have a bird companion!””One bird per player. Open the menu and press Dismiss, wait for it to fly off, then use the next item.
The menu does not open
Section titled “The menu does not open”The menu only opens while you have a bird out. Use a bird item first.
If U does nothing but /parrot works, another resource is using the same control. Change Config.MenuKey in config.lua to another control number.
/parrot says “You don’t have permission to use this command”
Section titled “/parrot says “You don’t have permission to use this command””That is the message the command shows when you have no bird out and Config.NoActiveBirdNotification is true. It is the no_permission line in your locale file; the U key uses the no_active_bird_for_menu line instead. Call a bird first, or reword no_permission in locales/ if the wording bothers you.
There is no sparrow item
Section titled “There is no sparrow item”The sparrow ships (model, flight.meta entry and inventory_images/sparrow.png), but it is missing from the three ready-made blocks in readme.md. Add it to your inventory by copying any other bird line and renaming it to sparrow.
Cormorant and Chicken Hawk show the warbler icon on QBCore
Section titled “Cormorant and Chicken Hawk show the warbler icon on QBCore”The QBCore lines in readme.md for cormorant and chickenhawk point their image at warbler.png. Change them to cormorant.png and chickenhawk.png, which are both in inventory_images/.
A custom bird is invisible, or falls instead of flying
Section titled “A custom bird is invisible, or falls instead of flying”The nine custom models come from stream/ and their ped data from flight.meta. Check that both are still in the resource folder and that nothing else on your server streams a model with the same name (Parrot, Eagle, Owl…). If you added a bird of your own, it needs its own entry in flight.meta.
The menu is in English although I changed the language
Section titled “The menu is in English although I changed the language”Config.Locale changes the notifications. The menu buttons are written in html/index.html; translate them there.
“Locale [xx] does not exist”
Section titled ““Locale [xx] does not exist””Config.Locale names a language that has no file. Use one of en, es, de, fr, it, pl, pt, ru, tr, or add your own as described in Customization.
